The Rotary Club of Pittsford’s next drive-thru food drive is scheduled Saturday (Oct. 4) from 9 am to noon at the Pittsford Sutherland High School bus loop. In addition to the Pittsford Food Cupboard, donations also will support the Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf & Clothing Closet and the Nazareth University Oak Tree Food Pantry. Rotarians and Interact Club members will be collecting at the drive rain or shine.
The Pittsford Food Cupboard plays a crucial role in addressing food insecurity within our community. Donations help ensure that local families have access to essential food items and will promote well-being and stability. See the cupboard’s list of current needs.
The Greece Ecumenical Food Shelf & Clothing Closet is a community supported emergency food pantry & clothing closet serving Greece & Charlotte. Current needs are canned vegetables; tuna; chicken; baked beans; chunky soups; rice; cold cereal; personal care items such as toothpaste, toothbrushes, shampoo, deodorant and bar soap; and small bottles of dish detergent. The Oak Tree Pantry serves those with food insecurity in the Nazareth community. The pantry has an ongoing need for granola bars, pasta, peanut butter, soap and other hygiene products.
The drive also will collect donations of gently used, current magazines for distribution to area human service organizations. The club conducts the drives the first Saturday of the month all year with an occasional change of date to avoid holiday and event conflicts. |

The tradition continues for the Pittsford Rotary Club’s Election Day Pasta Supper, and this year’s 59th annual charity fundraising event Nov. 4 is no exception. Pittsford Rotarians, assisted by community members and students from the Rotary-sponsored Pittsford High Schools Interact Service Clubs, will be serving the dinners from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Pittsford Mendon High School Commons. Patrons may enjoy the meal on-site, via take out or through the drive-through service.
“We take this opportunity to celebrate our freedom to vote by inviting neighbors in our community to gather and enjoy a terrific sit-down meal together at the school or to take home,” said Richard Colby, club president. “This long-standing tradition is among our fundraisers that benefit a wide range of local charities and service organizations. We warmly invite voters and their families to join us.”
Pittsford Rotarians will be serving generous helpings of pasta and sauce, all-beef meatballs, tossed salad, a breadstick, dessert and beverage. Barilla America is donating the pasta for the event and Pittsford Farms Dairy is providing ice cream for dessert.
Tickets for the event are $15 for age 13+, $10 for children age 5-12, and free for children younger than 5. At the door, tickets will be $20 for adults. Veterans will eat free. Tickets are available online at PittsfordRotaryClub.org, from any Pittsford Rotarian or at the door.
Funds benefit a wide range of local charities and community organizations such as the Pittsford Food Cupboard, Veterans Outreach Center, Pittsford Youth Services, and many more. |
