As March roared in and out like a two-headed lion, R Community Bikes of Rochester was looking around its proverbial empty storage area. They are completely out of bikes! All of last fall's donations have been rehabbed and are awaiting the spring rush for give-aways. Based on previous experience, that supply won't last long and then they will have to turn away clients.

Last year they gave away approximately 2500 bikes, 60% to adults. Although they give away teen and kids bikes all year, in December they donated over 150 children's bikes to the Brockport Toy Shelf, Cameron Ministries, Wilson Commencement Park, School #4, and Mothers in Need of Others.

In answer to their call for help, Pittsford Rotary Club held is 5th annual Bike Drop today at Mendon High School from 9:00 am - 2:00 pm.  Pat Mallery coordinated the Pittsford Sutherland and Mendon High School Interact Club volunteers, whereas, Steve Wilterdink coordinated the volunteers and publicity from the Rotary Club of Pittsford.

We collected 218 bicycles today.  Wooohooo!  Our goal was 211 for a total of 1300 bikes since the first bike drop in 2010.
